[post_content] => Antbear Lodge offers affordable accommodation in the foothills of the  KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg near Giants Castle in South Africa. The lodge  is an ideal place to base yourself while you discover the Drakensberg and KZN Midlands regions. We invite you to spend time here and share some of our dream. We like to think that the Antbear is a place for feeding your soul and rekindling your spirit. Built in the 1940s the quaint and charming cottage puts its arms around you and reminds you that there are things more important than everyday life.

We have a "luxury cave" built high on a natural platform overlooking the Bushmans River and Giants Castle.  It is a bit off the beaten track and is more of an insider tip than just another lodge.  It is a laid back, lovingly cared for kind of place where you feel a sense of happiness and peace. Honeymoon stays turn into anniversary commemorations just as guests become friends. Even foreign tourists return for a second and
third taste. We also have luxury en-suite units and double en-suite rooms where we  include dinner and breakfast or you can book our self-catering unit.  We are also pet-friendly by arrangement.

The name Antbear comes from its previous resident who lived under the floorboards before its restoration 15 years ago.  The lodge is filled with gorgeous hand crafted furniture, wonderful wooden sculptures and a seemingly never ending collection of artistic aspects to discover.

There is plenty to do in the area including horse riding on our farm, walks in the Drakensberg mountains, visits to bushman paintings, horse trails though a private game reserve, canoe trips, canopy tours and the
Midlands Meander to mention but a few.

Antbear Lodge is also a wedding and conference venue.  We even have our own chapel.

So if you are looking for a place where art, beauty and time away are important then Antbear Lodge is the place to be.

amongst furniture of antique design, all the while maintaining the modern
technological comforts of a select DStv bouquet, DVD player and well
equipped kitchen.

The Falls Cottage

Two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, lounge/dining room, kitchen and
partially enclosed veranda.

Serendipity Cottage

One bedroom, en suite bathroom with roll top bath, lounge with sleeper
couch, kitchen/diner and partially enclosed veranda

[post_content] => Michaelhouse, the Anglican Diocesan College of Natal, was founded in 1896 and is an internationally renowned boarding school for senior boys. Situated on a secure estate in the beautiful Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the school has a fully residential staff which facilitates a high level of pastoral care and interaction with the pupils. The distinctive ivy clad architecture of inter-linked quadrangles inspires a sense of belonging amongst the 567 boys of international and regional origin.

Michaelhouse is a school of established heritage with an innate respect for the individual. It is this long held tradition that distinguishes Michaelhouse from other senior boys’ schools.

We believe that going to senior school is as much about finding one’s special niche in life, as having the freedom and encouragement to explore it, and to become the best one can be. We strive to allow the differentiated potential of each boy to emerge and to thrive.

It is this focus on the individual that stretches the concept of strength through diversity to the extreme. It is also this focus that informs our leadership and mentorship programmes.
At Michaelhouse boys thrive on opportunities to explore, to learn, to play, to challenge the mediocre and to lead as men.

Michaelhouse has an outstanding record of academic, cultural and sporting excellence, as well as community involvement supported by modern facilities and a fully resident team of innovative staff.

With an active base of over 5500 Alumni across five continents, Michaelhouse has produced in excess of 30 Rhodes Scholars, 10 Elsie Ballot Scholars and over 130 sportsmen who have played their game at international level.

Michaelhouse is a member if the Independent Schools Association of South Africa.

[post_content] => Lastingham is in the heart of the KZN Midlands, in the Caversham valley conveniently positioned 1 km off the R103.

All our accommodation is in freestanding garden cottages, which offer a sense of space and tranquility. Wallow in one of our Jacuzzi baths, drink wine in front of a roaring fire, lie on your king size bed and gaze at the undulating hills, sit on your verandah and spot the abundant bird life and small animals, depart feeling pampered, serene and restored.

Lastingham is not only a getaway destination; we offer a variety of specialised and intimate functions, conferences, weddings, wellness and holistic retreats - a hugely growing industry. I oversee, co-ordinate, tailor design and give individual attention to every function. The peronalised themes, programs, menus and creative decor, are the things that interest and excite me.

The Midlands is one of the most fertile areas in SA, with abundant rain, early morning mists, cool air, and numerous springs and rivers. This allows us to source grass fed beef, daily picked vegetables, wonderful dairy products, free range chickens, mountain stream trout. All of which play a major part in our meals that we create for our guest enjoyment. We have travelled the world, and picked up dishes which we have made our own, all prepared with love and care. We are passionate about food, so it has become a huge drawcard for people to return to try out our latest recipes, or request a firm favourite.

Because of our location, we are in close proximity to golf courses, off road cycle tracks, art, craft, retail therapy, schools, open gardens and some of the Midlands top dinning rooms and coffee shops.

We are all caught up in the business of life, so whether you come to Lastingham for leisure, a conference, a wedding, to visit a child at boarding school, or a retreat; our gift to you is a quiet place where you can take time out, and be content with just being.

[post_content] => In the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in South Africa, is the historical Caversham Mill. Caversham Mill Estate comprises the Caversham Mill Restaurant and Manor House - 4 star graded accommodation in a peaceful country setting overlooking the Lions and Impafana Rivers.

Caversham Mill Restaurant is a first class, well-priced establishment offering modern comfort food, individually prepared and served in an idyllic Midlands setting. The menu is la Carte, and caters for all tastes. Breakfast, lunches and intimate dinners are prepared using fresh, locally produced ingredients. Sit in the restaurant, on the deck, or on the lawns overlooking the tumbling waterfall and the wheel of the old mill (which is in the process of being restored), and soak in the historic ambiance!

Caversham Mill Manor, a four star graded establishment, is a beautiful, old yellowwood and stone house. It has been fully restored and offers three unique and private suites for those who have a taste for accommodation of distinction. Two of the suites are double rooms, each with their own bathroom, and open onto their own deck areas. The third is a family suite, consisting of two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. All suites are serviced on a daily basis.

Caversham Mill Estate is situated in splendid gardens, with direct access to the river frontage for fly fishing. The Lions River runs in a semicircle around the property and the Impafana River joins it at right angles in the front of the property. Pathways lead along pretty walks to the waters edge, where guests can fish, swim, tube along the river, or simply sit and enjoy nature at its best.
