[post_content] => There is something deeply special about indigenous forests. The lush luminosity of life played out in near-perpetual shade, the warm dank scent of sweaty growth and languorous decay. Everyday from 08h00 - 16h00 the second largest indigenous forest in South Africa situated at Karkloof 18 kms inland from Howick comes alive with people of all ages and sizes experiencing a true Tarzan and Jane Adventure, on slides of up to 200m long which take them amongst the birds, monkeys, trees and plants of this magnificent forest.

The system has been designed and constructed by a civil engineer.During the tour two or more trained guides ensure the safety of each group while describing interesting facts about the ecology and life in the forest.

The experience starts with a briefing session at the Karkloof Canopy Tour base camp. You will also be kitted out with your harness, safety helmet and sliding glove where opportunity would be given to ask your guides questions. Should you wish, the option to go tandem with one of your qualified guides is an option open to all, he then becomes your ABS brakes and all you do is enjoy the ride. After briefing you will be taken up the mountain in a 4x4 with a short 60m walk to the first platform.

Can I do this?
Of course the answer is a resounding YES! This is for everyone with a sense of adventure and a love of beauty should come and experience our Tarzan & Jane Adventure. Ideal for team building, childrens parties, anniversaries and wooing of friend and foe!

AGE GROUP: 5 - 85+years

Individually decorated, the eleven rooms at Cleopatra are fast becoming world renowned for the innovative and creative decor. Each room has a theme and is filled with many articles pertaining to the colour scheme and theme. All rooms have a warm, snug bed with down duvets and pillows, fresh crisp, cotton sheets and mohair blankets. All have en suite bathrooms, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bars, heaters, fans and warm towel rails. All have spectacular views. The comfort, peace and tranquility is untarnished by people and create memories that will take a lifetime to fade. A friendly dining room filled with interesting artifacts and a large crackling fireplace invites you to enjoy a world-class meal lovingly prepared by Richard Poynton (recently awarded a 5 star chef status) and his team.  Passion and patience goes into the preparation of every dish with flavour paramount.  Menus change daily and local, imported and homegrown ingredients are used at their peak and a stroll through the vegetable and herb gardens will attest to this. A place in the country becomes a natural magnet to people who want to savour the flavours of home grown vegetables, farm fresh dairy products and home cured hams. The passion and patience that goes into the preparation of food is reflected in the tastes and textures.
