A proudly South African business passionate about producing delicious confectionery made using the finest natural ingredients. Wedgewood Nougat was started by Gilly and Taffy Walters on the family stove in 1999. Serious illness had driven the Walters family off their flower farm and Gilly and Taffy set about hosting dinner music concerts at their home to make ends meet. It was at one of these concerts that Gilly first made nougat and was inspired by happy guests to start selling it at the local farmer’s market in Pietermaritzburg. Some years later, the family stove has transformed into a state-of-the-art facility on the KZN Midlands, filled with a team passionate about good food and living a good life!

As you enter the quaint little town of Howick, make sure you stop off at Angels Shoes, 74 Main Street, and discover their impressive range of ladies and men’s leather shoes. Just a little bit of history, Angels Shoes was started in the late 1980’s by James Shankland when he designed and made shoes for his wife whose name was Angel. The shoes and sandals were hand-made from beautiful, soft hand-painted leather. He was one of the first shoemakers in South Africa to use so many different colours of leather on one shoe. He established a niche for a wider fit and his shoe sizes went up to a size 10 for ladies, offering all ladies a vibrant new level of design and comfort. Over time the factory has changed hands and now the manufacturing arm of the business has been outsourced to Corvari Footwear, a family-run business based in Pinetown, Durban. As the owner Tracey Kenyon-Slade says: I am very proud of my Angels brand and know that they really are Heaven for Feet. Come in and say hello any time. If we aren’t open, give us a call and we will be at the shop in 5 minutes to […]
