Coming from Dalton / Wartburg, two life-loving mums, Margie and Candace, and Margie’s son Lance, fell in love with the KZN Midlands in 2019; they all moved to Notties in January 2020. The three decided that with Lance’s dream of cheffing, combined with Margie and Candace’s love of people, it was the perfect mix to take on their adventure. Margie and Candace each have three children, all of whom have grown up together and are good friends. The decision for Margie to leave the family farm in the care of her eldest son and begin the Bed and Breakfast came when Lance felt his calling was in his love for food; growing it, preparing it and serving it!
Willow and Lily Bed and Breakfast on the Curry’s Post Road in Balgowan is home to beautiful decor, simplistic rooms, and fine finishes. The team has taken almost 18 months to renovate the building, restore what could remain and refresh every cornice whilst always striving to maintain the character, charisma and authenticity of the property they fell in love with. They pay a lot of attention to detail and love early morning coffee chats while sitting on the perfectly situated veranda overlooking the two dams which gave the property its former and perfectly apt name, Twin Pools Lodge.
Besides the Bed and Breakfast, the team aims to host small intimate functions as well as the recently popularized micro-weddings. The “no children under the age of 12” policy allows for the special getaway that most adults so desperately need. A place to quietly retreat; to enjoy a lazy afternoon picnic with your person under the rustling trees in the warm wintery sun, or a wholesome delicious meal with friends and fine wine. And then to retire to a room where comfort and quality are the two reasons you would return for another visit! Each room has its own outdoor seated area on the spacious wrap-around verandah. The rooms are all en-suite. The fully fenced property is secure with ample parking. The entire house has the capability to sleep 14 guests.
