Here are 5 recommended stops, arranged in order of location, that we think you will give you a diverse and fulfilling Midlands experience.

1. Café Classic

An early start is always recommended when spending a day in the Midlands, so you may need a caffeine boost to fully come alive. Café Classic is a quaint, welcoming and cozy café that will make for the perfect start to any morning. Stop for one of their delicious breakfasts or mid-morning tea while you map your meander route for the day ahead. The charming interior and elegant table set-up make it a favourite for both locals and meanderers alike. Start your day off on the right foot with a “Café Classic welcome” before filling up your car at their onsite Fuel Filling Station and hitting the road.

2. Endeavor Alpacas

Treat your family to a unique experience sure to be the highlight of the day. Endeavor Alpacas is a family-owned farm open to the public on the first Sunday of every month. Interact with the farm’s many alpacas, learn from the educational talk and enjoy browsing through the humble craft and food market, stocking alpaca products prepared on the property.

3. Swissland Cheese

A Midlands meander isn’t complete without a visit to Swissland Cheese. This establishment was one of the first in the Midlands and the first of its kind back in 1992. Spend some time on the picturesque farm, observing the goats roaming the property where fresh cheese is made and sold. You don’t get much fresher than that, so be sure to stock up on some divine goat cheese to take home.

4. Piggly Wiggle Coffee Shop

One of the most popular stops for meanderers is the Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the famous Piggly Wiggly Restaurant followed by a leisurely browse around the Piggly Wiggly village. From candle and chocolate dipping, to plants and craft shops, you can enjoy all this outdoor village has to offer. Children will also love the small train and putt-putt course located in the middle of the stores.

5. Tweedie Junction

Finishing your day trip off, you may want to support local craftsmen by purchasing some unique souvenirs at Tweedie Junction. Observe the production of glass beads, treat yourself to genuine leather accessories or get in touch with your creative side by partaking in a one-on-one, or group, craft class (depending on social distancing measures). The junction also features a deli, locally produced treats, a thrift and antique store and artwork. If you are still hungry, grab a quick bite to eat before getting back on the road and heading home.
