OAKRIDGE FARM COTTAGE – Nottingham Road area/near Mount West and Curry’s Post junction.

Oakridge Farm Cottage is perfectly situated to explore the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, but more importantly it is somewhere to sit and absorb the moment while the sun sets over the small dam, watch the Nguni cattle come down to drink or the abundant birdlife that congregates around the water, and let the stresses of your normal days drift away.

Our charming cottage, alongside a small dam, is perfect for couples or can accommodate two people in single beds. The fold-out couch is suitable for children up to about 12 years of age.  Beautifully decorated and fully equipped, the cottage is intended for guests who enjoy nature alongside comfort. Loud noise, over-occupation and parties are not permitted.

Facilities

Oakridge Farm Cottage works only on a self-catering basis, but we can direct you to the best places to eat in the area or to purchase local delicacies.

There is a carport to protect your vehicle from hailstorms, which do occur occasionally in the area.

When booking please be mindful that this is a farm stay and electricity loadshedding causes disruptions to our day-to-day. While the cottage does not have a back-up generator there is a small gas plate, and with plenty of rechargeable lights one can simply braai and watch the stars if there is an electricity failure at night.

The cottage is serviced three times a week, so be prepared to wash the dishes (the good old-fashioned way) some days and to make your own bed (or don’t, no pressure on the farm).

Activities

Oakridge Farm Cottage boasts very poor internet connection. The idea is to watch nature, not a cell phone or television screen. (This said there is an effective security system in place so that you can feel relaxed and safe).

Fishing rods can be booked by arrangement at a small fee, and guests are welcome to use our two old bicycles at no additional charge. There are also two kiddie’s bikes, suitable for 4- to 8-year-olds.

Our aim is to make your visit memorable. Oakridge Farm Cottage is well placed to explore everything the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands has to offer. Ask about local activities; request a basket of local delicacies (Saturdays and high season, by pre-arrangement only) at a reasonable additional cost. Nothing is too much effort, and our best advertising is by word of mouth.

Rates:

Initial bookings will be held for 24 hours and taken as confirmed only once the deposit is paid. The balance of payment is due prior to occupation via Direct Credit Transfer.

Terms and Conditions apply, most notably that the person who makes the booking is responsible for breakages and items missing. (There is a detailed inventory in the cottage that is checked between guests).

STANDARD RATES

1 night for two people (children 12 years and under free): R1350.00 per night
1 night single: R850.00 per night
2 successive nights: R1100.00 per night for two people
2 successive nights: R750.00 per night single

PEAK SEASON RATES (HOLIDAY SEASON AND LONG WEEKENDS)

All prices include VAT.
We reserve the right to take longer bookings in preference to shorter ones, but once booked and the deposit is paid your booking is secure.
